Deck Railings

A deck railing is one of the most noticeable deck components.  There are many options of deck railings for you to choose from.  At Ottawa Deck Builders, we have experience building all types of deck railings for our clients.

The most common type of deck railing is aluminum spindle and aluminum frame railing.  This railing is economical in cost, it gets assembled in one or two days and it requires no maintenance.  The pickets are fairly small in size and this railing does not obstruct much of the view.  Aluminum is safe and is permitted for use in Ottawa.

Another popular railing option is aluminum and glass.  This railing has aluminum posts and top and bottom rails, but the main infil portion is made of safety tempered glass.  This railing costs more money than a picket aluminum railing, but it obstructs the view even less.  Glass aluminum railing can be combined with picket aluminum railings down the stairs.

If you are looking for a modern, unique railing that will add aesthetic appeal to your project – you can choose to go with a frameless glass railing.  This railing gets installed on small stainless steel clamps that get attached to the frame of the decking.  The glass in this railing is typically ½” thick.  This is the most expensive railing, but it makes a huge difference in the overall look of the project.
